About ICE Utilities
How We Started...
ICE Utilities was formed in early 2013 by Shaun and Richard as part of the ongoing development of the successful ICE Plumbing and Water Services business that Shaun had started 10 years earlier. Their paths have crossed many times since 2003 and ICE Plumbing and Water Services continue to be an important service provider to the Yorkshire Water Business Services team where Richard was, until 2007, the Engineering Services Manager. As Shaun often says "...it's not just plumbing, we are water experts" and with that in mind he saw an opportunity to expand the business by offering a service to help customers manage their water use and costs and start to prepare for water retail competition. And so ICE Utilities was born at Unit 9 in Barugh Green.
What we do
Being inquisitive types and because we want to find those savings opportunities, when we analyse a bill or carry out an audit we look at everything. It's an holistic approach that helps us to develop solutions that are different for every customer. We don't just look for the easy wins then move on. We want to help you manage your water use and keep control of your costs, working with you for the long term.
With an eye towards the preparations for water retail competition in 2017 we think it’s a good idea to work with our customers old and new to make sure they understand how they are charged for water and wastewater services, are only paying what they should, are reasonably water efficient and are ready to take advantage of new tariffs and supplier options that will be available in 2017.
We enjoy our work
We enjoy working with water companies. In our 40+ years working for them we have come to know individuals very well and the businesses in detail. They also publish the Schemes of Charges that we enjoy reading. Fifty plus pages that set out how each water company calculates your bill. Perhaps you'd rather read a good novel or a magazine; unless, that is, you have trouble sleeping. Not the ICE Utilities team; fuelled with tea, coffee and the occasional glass of chilled water, we love getting to grips with the complexities of tariff structures, allowances and the Mogden Formula.
You will of course expect that we keep up to date with industry developments.
Charge fees or charge nothing?
Because cost reduction is what we do it’s only right that our approach to fees should reflect this. For that reason if we can't deliver any savings we charge nothing for the bill analysis, audit and report. Where we do deliver savings we share them for three years, after which time you get the full benefit. This approach does of course give us a real incentive to reduce your costs.
